Finally, time has come for Yahoo to make some sense as far as search engine market is concerned. And there is no doubt that people are aware of Mozilla browser and it’s deal with Google for making it as it’s default search engine page since 2004. And you know what the news now is?
Mozilla newly signed up with Yahoo that makes Yahoo search engine as default search engine for Mozilla for the next 5 years.
It was obvious that Google is the king of search engines for a long time now and there is not even a single search engine that has reached close to Google. But now, Yahoo has got a good opportunity of proving it as one of the best searching engines around.
So, for the next 5 years you will be able to see Yahoo showing up as default search engine page for Mozilla. Did you know that Google’s contribution in Mozilla’s $123 million revenue in 2010 is at 84%. So, it’s clear that what Mozilla today is most importantly because of Google.
Also, not to forget, Chrome is all by Google and is said to be one of the leading web browsers around the world. So, while Mozilla is in contract with Google on the same, the prime competitor for Mozilla at that point of time is Chrome.
So, with Chrome being the prime competitor for Mozilla which also carries the same default search engine actually makes not much of a sense. So, it’s time they have decided to try something different.
CEO of Mozilla in a statement said,
“We are ending our practice of having a single global default search provider,” Chris Beard, chief executive (CEO) of Mozilla, said in a statement. “We are adopting a more local and flexible approach to increase choice and innovation on the Web, with new and expanded search partnerships by country.”
So, what do you think? Will this create an impact in the search engine market shares? Please do let us know your thoughts on this.
