Layoffs at Microsoft is now a sensational thing. Not just a few but in a bulk. Well, that’s what the news is telling us. It is like there was some kind of recession happening at Microsoft that lead to bulk layoffs.
The correct stats shows that a total of 18,000 employees are supposed to be not returning to office someday. It means, they were sent out of Microsoft forever. There are confusions over the layoffs and a few of the biggies are not so comfortable to comment on the issues that lead Microsoft to the current situation.
Top paid Engineers at Microsoft are no exception in that case. A very famously know Bing Engineer Duane Forrester, who worked behind the webmaster outreach has been laid off from the company. The project that he was involved in has taken a huge beat and there is no other way for Engineers than to quietly quitting the place.
In a statement, Duane Forrester said,
“Microsoft announced changes within the structures of several groups in the company. My group was affected, and while I have natural concerns for my own future, I am now faced with saying goodbye to some talented friends and coworkers. It has been a pleasure to work beside, and learn from, these people. They are smart, dedicated and creative…not to mention a barrel of laughs!
I am confident in my own abilities and hopeful for each of those affected by yesterday’s layoffs. It happens. Companies make decisions every day. And while it may seem easy to quarterback things like this from a distance, I can state I feel no enmity. Not an ounce.”
In the statement above, Forrester clearly indicating that, there is nothing he can do with the situation at the company. As part of layoffs, he got to be out with few from his team.
Also, saying Microsoft is changing it’s structures, well, we can’t actually draw any conclusions as of now on what was running in the minds of people at Microsoft and where are they actually heading to.
But lately, Microsoft once again has to move forward in the right direction under the leadership of Satya Nadella who will always play the key role in the company’s major changes.
As far as the Microsoft layoffs are concerned, it happens with companies and it’s part of their routine. One has to be really so keen about looking into the status of the growth and process in the respective areas.
So, with reduced employee count in Microsoft, we will have to wait and see, how they are going to perform in future. The dark side of such huge layoffs is that, it damages the spirit of the employees making them feel uncomfortable at work. Hope, Microsoft will consider in changing their concept of laying off in future.
